Visiting Graceland, Home Of The King To Celebrate Elvis' 35th Anniversary

We visited Graceland, Home Of The King to celebrate Elvis' 35th Anniversary!! It's 35 Years since the death of Elvis 'The King' Presley. This weekend we took a trip to Graceland to remember, marvel and pay tribute to one of Rock ''n' Roll's most almighty legends. Our Summer road trip has meant we get to visit the birth places of some of our favourite sounds. Memphis, Tennessee is the birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll and the Blues, we made sure to take day out to salute the King.

Here are just some of the pictures and my ramblings about Elvis and our day at Graceland Mansions. Oh and my new haircut, yes it's official I'm sporting more of a Marilyn than a Rita (perfect length for the hot temperatures of the Southern States).

We bought our Graceland tickets and jumped into a shuttle bus to the Mansion grounds, we were given headsets that talked us through each room in the house (minus the upstairs, this has been kept private as a sign of respect) and played Elvis  songs in between. The interior was incredible, totally 1970's, bold and iconic with real personality.

Elvis was only 22 years old when he bought Graceland Mansions, the piano in the bottom right picture is where he sang the morning of his death.

As well as being able to see inside the mansion our ticket gave us access to Elvis' private jets, classic car & motorcycle collection and an exhibition of costumes donated by other musicians as a tribute to Elvis.

Towards the end of our tour we spent a few moments in the Meditation Garden where Elvis and his family are  buried, it was quite moving to see the tributes, flowers and messages from all the fans he has touched with his music.

As an Elvis fan it was a dream come true to visit Graceland and at the start of the momentous 35th anniversary week too. I hope you'll continue to join us on our adventure. We're truly having a ball, meeting some beautiful people and discovering all kinds of wonderment along our journey.

Plan your trip and learn more about Graceland over on the website.
