Staying at The Brock Hotel in Niagara Falls Like Marilyn Monroe

Niagara the 1953 thriller-film noir was Marilyn Monroe's first major film appearance, if you haven't seen it already you should. During the filming of Niagara Marilyn Monroe stayed at the The Brock Hotel in Niagara Falls, which is where we stayed! As Niagara's first luxury hotel, it has long been a favourite of Hollywood elite and royalty. Since it's opening, the Crowne Plaza has hosted many notable guests including Walt Disney, Shirley Temple, Jimmy Stewart, Queen Elizabeth, the one and only Marilyn and us!

Niagara starring Marilyn Monroe is a dramatic, humorous and visual dream. During the production of Niagara, the press began to compare Marilyn to Jean Harlow, the famous blonde sex symbol of the Depression era.

Every single ensemble sported by Marilyn in the film is enviable and set to the backdrop of the Niagara Falls how could it fail to be a feast for the eyes? two forces of nature combined. The film follows two couples visiting Niagara Falls, tensions between one wife and her husband reach the level of murder.

We had a Niagara falls view, Jacuzzi and swanky kings deluxe room. Needless to say I was in my element. I adored the chandelier in the reception entrance. We kept imagining Marilyn sashaying through the lobby. The view from the Rainbow Room restaurant on the top floor was pretty incredible too, what a spectacular view.

As you pull up to the entrance they play 1950's rock 'n' roll music in the lobby which is how we knew we were in the right place.

Inspired by the Marilyn Monroe film Niagara we headed out on The Maid of The Mist, the small boat that sails to the very base of the Falls meaning you get absolutely soaked by the thunderous mist. I was scared at first imagining all kinds of things were going to happen, however the boat ride was smooth and fun and suitable for children & O.A.P's and scaredy cats like Me. The first Maid of the Mist was first launched in 1846 as a ferry service between the Canadian and American sides, so we were in very safe hands.

As the boat approaches the Niagara Falls nothing can prepare you for the views, seeing the Falls so close up from eye level is an experience not to be missed.
